Debra Presley, Founder & CEO of Diverse Nation, joins Chamber of Commerce steering committee
I am so excited to be part of the Lancaster & Morecambe Chamber of Commerce Members Steering Group, which just had its very first gathering!
Following their Equality, Diversity, & Inclusion (EDI) study in 2023, it’s truly inspiring to witness their proactive steps towards representation, ensuring the Chamber reflects the diverse and vibrant businesses in our district.
As a neurodivergent Chartered Psychologist and Chartered Scientist, my involvement in this initiative brings unique benefits. My professional expertise allows me to contribute a deep understanding of the psychological and scientific principles underlying effective EDI practices. I can offer evidence-based strategies to foster an inclusive environment where all members feel valued and supported. My neurodivergent perspective adds an essential layer of insight into the diverse experiences of individuals within our community, helping to ensure that our policies and actions are genuinely inclusive and considerate of different needs.
This steering group will be discussing various topics from the study, using that insight to supercharge the Chamber’s EDI Policy, and keeping local businesses front and centre while we work towards boosting representation. With my background, I am particularly passionate about advocating for neurodiversity, mental health awareness, and accessibility, ensuring that these critical aspects are integrated into our EDI efforts.
Together, we aim to create a Chamber that not only celebrates diversity but also leverages it as a strength, driving innovation and success for all businesses in our district. I’m proud to be leading the charge for a more neuroinclusive Chamber of Commerce to better support our neurodivergent community.
