Diverse Nation is interviewed by Will Mallard for the fantastic My Property World podcast series
Look at that big, cheesy grin of mine 😊
The most fabulously talented Will Mallard has just interviewed me about Diverse Nation and my role in it for his My Property World Podcast series – it’s pretty clear that when I’m asked about my business, not only is there no stopping me, but it genuinely lights me up.
This links back to something that popped up during that interview – the importance of pursuing something that motivates you rather than something you are good at – because when things get tricky, your motivators (not your skills) step in to get you through it.
If you want to find out what motivates you (and you can use this technique quite ethically with your family/colleagues too), here’s a handy way to do so in under a minute… (I have done this many times in my role as a business psychologist and it has never failed me):
Remember a time when you did something that you felt/thought was awesome, replay it in your mind, enjoy it, and then figure out whether, in that scenario, the main element of awesomeness revolved around power, achievement, or friendship. If it is two or more of those elements, decide which one was the most important to the awesomeness factor. This is likely your motivator. The next step is to find a role that gives you that sense of power, achievement, or friendship and in doing so, not only will you motor through the difficult times more easily, but you’ll light up as you do so.
